The church exists to worship God. We worship by expressing our love for God with our “whole heart” as we celebrate God’s presence among us. In genuine worship, God’s presence is felt, God’s pardon is offered, God’s purposes are revealed, and God’s power is displayed. Worship has always been at the very center of what it means to be a Christian. Whenever the church has gathered, it has gathered to worship. There is no church and no Christian community with worship. In the same way, our spiritual growth is anchored in worship. Worship renews our spirit. It strengthens and feeds us spiritually. In worship we are comforted, strengthened, challenged, forgiven, fed and educated. (from Living in the Light by Walt Marcum)
